Although it is hit or miss depending on the song, I feel like a lot of recent songs are either too repetitive, don't make sense, or just isn't something I can't connect with.

How modern are you talking? I really like Shostakovich (modern classical) and I'm in awe at how well he maintained his style and survived under Stalin.

I have found a lot of the newer songs are extremely sexualised. I know songs have been sexualised from the beginning and I am no prude but geez some of the lyrics these days are disgusting. I think the 2 worst (that I know of) are the WAP by Cardi B and DDLG by Ppcocaine.
