This is silly but… a pasta boat.
I had never made pasta any other way than on the stovetop. Late one night there was an infomercial on and long story short…I bought one. Love it. During the summer there’s no pot of boiling water heating up the house. It’s actually very useful. I was as shocked as you are. It’s been over 10 years and I use it all the time. And yes I know you can use a glass bowl..but with this all kinds of pasta fit, there’s handles, and a strainer. It’s just easy.

Bifocal lenses. My optometrist had been recommending them for a couple of years, but I didn't want to because it added about $100 to the cost of my glasses (which were already several hundred dollars). I finally gave in and suddenly no more headaches when I read or crocheted. Next step will be surgery, but not for a while; talk about expensive.
