My name is Yoav Tirosh and I'm a saga scholar (I have a Ph.D. and everything), and some point while I was on exchange in Denmark I got really bored and started making comics. Since then my style has improved (thanks to my wife's help and my trusty iPad), but the crossed-out horned helmets remain!
Hope you like these! If you do, please consider following me on my socials!
#1 Assassin's Creed Valhalla

This one was made before AC: Valhalla was released and it got a LOT of hate on Reddit.

#3 Where's Bjorn?

This one was made with my wife, who is an amazing talent. She really thinks out of the box when drawing and I think the results are astonishing.

#7 Remember

Admittedly, the values that Hallfreðr (random name) fought for weren't all that heroic, but I do like the thought of how little we remember of the past, and how much we project on it. Ironically, as many know, Bluetooth technology is named after Haraldr Blátönn (Harald Bluetooth), who was the commissioner of the very famous Jelling Stone in Denmark.

#16 Execution

This is one of my earliest earliest comics here which I really like. Before making white faces and then faces with color, I tried to just not do face color at all and leave it blank. The main issue is that while sometimes in worked (like I think it does here), sometimes it looked terrible. But it was a nice period!

#17 Long Commute

You can tell that this is one of my earlier comics; the main "tell" is that I didn't use any skin color. But eventually I realized that having the characters white skinned is just as a political statement as having them with color, so these days I just try to diversify gender and skin color as much as possible, much to the anger of Reddit.

#18 Viking Pick Up Line

A good friend of mine (Luke John Murphy) has a co-authored piece analysing the viability of Blood Eagles and if the Vikings could have actually pulled such a procedure off, let alone keeping the victim alive. Final conclusion: It's complicated.

#20 Why Are There No Trees In Iceland?

Actually there are no trees because of a mix of climate and manmade forest clearing. But here and there in the sagas you hear about Vikings who burn down forests out of spite. To this day, when I do the Golden Circle with Icelanders, they complain about the trees blocking the view. Some people just don't like trees.
