Somewhere between Norway and the North Pole you will find the Norwegian archipelago called Svalbard. Here, you will find untouched arctic wilderness and unique wildlife, and it is home of the King of the Arctic - the Polar Bear.
In addition to a few thousand polar bears, the islands are home to almost 3,000 inhabitants where most of them live in the capital "Longyearbyen." The Polar Bears are protected and people moving outside the settlements are required to have appropriate scare devices to ward off attacks. They are also advised to carry a firearm for use as a last resort.
If you visit Svalbard as a tourist you need to be accompanied by a guide to leave the settlements.
Svalbard is an amazing place to visit for wildlife photography, or if you like to experience something out of the ordinary. If you would like to discover Svalbard feel free to contact me.
