Greenland - Kingdom Of Ice.

Birthplace of the most incredible icebergs in the World. Greenland is the worlds largest no -continental island. Three quarters of Greenland is covered by permanent ice sheet. All towns and settlement are situated along the ice-free coasting west. There are only few weeks during each year starts in end July, when sun just slightly touches horizon, giving incredible opportunity to photograph almost all night long! The sea is the only one road that connects Greenlandic settlements.

There are no highways or roads between settlements.Thats way on 23 rd of August 2017, i have begun adventure of lifetime on privet charter boat expedition.

We start our trip in Ilulissat , a nice local town with colourful houses, dog sledges around and very friendly people located on the West coast of Greenland, north of Arctic circle.

It’s a pure Arctic, and not only because of the biggest icebergs in the world, but also because of the, nature, wildlife (arctic foxes, musc ox, humpback whales…)Sermeq Kujalleq glacier is the place where the most giant icebergs in the world are born. Imagine that the glacier advances for 20 meters per day! Ice production of the glacier is around 46 cubic kilometres per year ( it is equivalent to U.S. annual water consumption).The larges iceberg by the glacier are the ice of 1.5 cubic kilometres of ice. This is equivalent of 30-football field covered by a layer of ice as high as Mount Everest..An iceberg of this size could supply population of Denmark with water for almost 7 years…

We have sail for 8 day around Disko bay and visited Greenlandic settlements like Qasigiannguit, Aasiaat, Saqqaq,Qeqertarsuaq..,taking photos from the boat, walk around villages. We have cruise among ice fjord hunt for huge icebergs, as you may find “Iceberg-skyscraper” only in the open sea, where it rotates and polishes by sun, scout for best unique shaper of that nature creations in the best light conditions. We have meet city of Icebergs at open sea and giant floating iceberg with arch on the way to settlement, but we have to change our plans and decided to come back once again to take photographs in best light possible, and taking shot from small flammable boat “zodiac" and come much closer then usual. All out adventure allowed us to see and visit non-commercial places where all tourists are usual taken.

Disko bay is well-known area where humpback whales and seals are feeding. Whale watching is essential during adventure, that’s way we have choose small settlement Assiaat and spend amazing day with family of 5 Humpback Whales we meet and manage to witness during they haunt...
