3rd generation woodworker and artist Kyle Miller grew up surrounded by the beauty and wild scenes of Vancouver Island, BC. Working from a small and highly specialized woodworking shop, for the first few years of his career Miller focused on clockworks and designing custom microphones for Grammy artists like T-Pain and Snoop Dogg before turning his eye to the natural beauty of the local Pacific Northwest.
Inspired by the work of area woodworkers like Fred Carlson and Greg Klassen, Miller worked for over a year to develop the new pieces. From the rugged coastlines and rocky beaches of the area, these new pieces developed into a signature series of wall panels depicting segmented "rivers" of glass; each panel flowing into the next.
Using only woods that were downed by storm or suffered from disease, the River Series exclusively features these salvaged and premium materials in order to completely reduce the need to chop down any healthy trees or buy any material that is not extremely local. Each piece begins with a salvaged tree, a tree faller, a crane, a flat bed, and a mill. Every step of the process is closely controlled by Miller to insure the highest quality, and most sustainable piece possible; and each piece is completely unique as a result.
