Imagine lying in bed in a tiny cabin, children still sound asleep, and you can wake them up to a curious giraffe or ostrich just a few meters from you. There is nothing but a double glazing of a huge window separating you from the African wildlife and the action.
This is the astonishing reality crafted by an Estonian-based company Iglucraft and executed by Ree Park Safari in Denmark. Iglucraft has created a range of handcrafted glamping pods – timber cabins that look rustic but have all the amenities and luxuries of a home or a hotel room. The company that is known to have celebrity clients from UK as well as the US has started to appeal to people looking to go back to their roots - people interested in taking care of their mental as well as physical wellbeing.
Together, the four south-facing Iglucraft cabins make a glamping ground within a safari park, the aim of which is to take care of animals endangered in their home country. After investing in the health and well-being of the animals they are sent back to the nature in order to rebuild and preserve the species in their former territories.
Situated in the midst of extraordinary landscapes Ree Park Safari is a perfect destination for international travellers. Last summer, however, the safari mainly welcomed domestic tourists with full occupancy rates. People are looking for smaller accommodation options with proximity to nature for fun activities and possibilities of taking care of their well-being at the same time. Away from the city and with more privacy.
The handmade huts are well insulated and suitable in any climate. Iglucraft projects can be found on windy terrains of Iceland, freezing temperatures of Norway, as well as the heat and blazing sun of Spain, but not every project is as special as the safari park that is now installing new cabins in the area representing the wildlife of yet another continent.
