Michael Sowa has been a German painter and illustrator for over 70 years. His style is characterized by the combination of dream and surreal, with an inevitable presence of animals in his paintings. His work is often compared to the former Dutch and Flemish masters of the 16th and 17th centuries, the same rich colors and love of detailed landscapes.
Michael also paints on canvas, but not with oil, as it may seem at first, but with clear acrylic.He gained wide popularity following the release of the acclaimed 2001 movie "Amelie". It was Owl who created the strange paintings and lamps in the main character's room.
