Cat Becomes An “Attendant” Of A 'Service Unit' And Even Has An Employee Badge

For a year now, Bino has been there, climbing on tables and dozing in document boxes.

A unit of Poupatempo (provides services to the population, such as obtaining licenses, identity documents) in São José do Rio Preto, interior of São Paulo, Brazil, received a new acquisition in the staff. Bino is a friendly kitten who was already a presence at the place: a year ago, he arrives on time, interacts with workers, customers and has his lunch break.

I asked the owner Victoria Capato some questions:

1-How did Bino come into your life and what is his age?

-Bino is the son of one of our grandmother's cats. When she gave birth, we adopted him and his sister Amora. They live in our mother's house in Rio Preto for about 06 years.

2-How did the story of him going to "work" at Poupa Tempo?

-Since always Bino and all our cats have been neutered, as a veterinarian I always valued their health and I know the adventurous and curious behavior that cats have. But oddly enough, Bino is the only one at home who loves taking walks around the block. So, since he was little, he visits our neighbor who is a locksmith, the house upstairs where a Registry Office works, and he has even invaded the plenary session of the City Council that is in front of our house. More recently we found out that Bino discovered and adopted Poupatempo as a frequent tour and that employees love it.

3-How did you react to this lovely news, that your cat is an animal adored by many people?

-I am very happy that he is so loved, he is really docile but he has a lot of personality too. Our biggest fear is that strangers use this docility of Bino for the bad, believing he is abandoned or something. Bino has a home, he has sisters, he has our family that loves him very much and that spoils them all with everything we can.

4- Is it the first time he surprises you, or have more things happened?

-Bino always did it! I remember in 2017 when the City Council photographer came to tell us that he ventured in the middle of the councilors session and slept on the red carpet. We laugh a lot. Now, we've made an instagram for him @cadeobino, and we've already got over 500 followers in two days. Bino doesn't stop surprising us.

5- Does he go back to Poupa Tempo's house alone or will someone pick him up?

-He always comes back, Poupatempo is really close to home and as Poupatempo is connected to the City Hall and City Hall building, he can get home practically without walking on the sidewalks or taking risks on the street.

6-I see that you had to separate from him because of a change of city, how did you manage to live with his absence?

-It's not easy, our family has always had pets and as a veterinarian I'm passionate about cats (although I specialize in buffaloes hahaha). Here at my house I also have kittens that live with me, but whenever I go back to Rio Preto, Bino sleeps with me and spends the day playing and making fun around the house to get my attention. The only reason I didn't bring him with me is because my mother is also very attached to him, Amora and Banguelinha.

7- Would you like to add any more information about Bino?

-I would like to leave a message and a request to everyone who is getting to know this story now. First, to say that Bino is very well cared for and has frequent veterinarian follow-up by several professional friends who come to my house. Second, ask whoever you come across to treat him with affection because he is very much loved by us. And lastly, to encourage the castration and adoption of these amazing pussies, they deserve a home and love stories like Bino's.
