When asked about the impact of influential cartoonists like Dan Piraro, Mœbius, and Hergé on his work, Joseph expressed that, although he never had direct interactions with these legends, their art has profoundly inspired him. "Their ability to convey complex emotions and stories through simple yet profound illustrations has significantly influenced my approach to creating cartoons," he said, emphasizing the importance of combining a strong narrative with a unique artistic style.
Regarding the transition from brush and ink to full digital art, Joseph shared the challenges he faced, particularly adapting to the lack of physical feedback. He noted, "One of the main hurdles was adapting to the lack of physical feedback you get from a brush or pen, which initially made my strokes less confident." However, he also highlighted the advantages of digital tools, mentioning how they have allowed for more experimentation, rapid iteration, and a more dynamic artistic style.
On balancing different artistic pursuits, the artist stressed the importance of maintaining a daily routine and shared his observations on how different mediums influence each other. "It's a symbiotic relationship where each medium enriches the other," he explained, detailing how traditional tools bring an organic feel to his work, while digital tools encourage bold experimentation.
Looking to the future, Joseph expressed his desire to continue evolving as an artist, experimenting with various styles and mediums. He hopes his work brings joy and laughter, stating, "I hope that my work brings joy and laughter to people, offering them a brief respite from their daily lives."
