A long time ago the creators of the comic series shared with Bored Panda that they chose dinosaurs as their characters simply because they find them fascinating and cool. The appeal of dinosaurs provided a fun and unique backdrop for their storytelling, and people loved the unique aspect of it on social media.
Looking closely at their comics, it often feels like the dinosaurs are navigating their mental health challenges—acknowledging them while learning to live with them. James and K confirmed that this is partly true. They explained that many people go through significant struggles before discovering what's wrong. Once diagnosed, they aim to get the help they need to make things more manageable. However, mental health remains an ongoing aspect of life, and understanding it often becomes a personal journey.
The artists also emphasized that their comics focus on relationships with friends and family. While medical treatment can be essential, they believe the support of loved ones plays a crucial role in coping with mental health issues. This theme of connection and care is a cornerstone of their work for the majority of their work if not all of it, really.
