Bored Panda reached out to Mike to find out why the artist started making comics in the first place.
“Just seemed like a fun thing to try. When reading other people's comics I thought to myself, I think I could do that too. So I tried.”
Of course, we couldn't help but feel curious about the artist’s past when it came to the arts too.
“I've always liked drawing and making people laugh but I have no formal experience. (As I'm sure is obvious.)”
Hearing all of that we also started wondering about the characters the artist came up with for their comics so we inquired a little bit more about that.
“I initially wanted to plan out a whole world with specific plots and characters but eventually realized I wasn't making progress so I decided to just make stand-alone characters and situations. For now, I just create characters as needed for the situation. Most of my characters are just generic dudes trying to deal with an absurd situation.”
Though the artist themselves had just started out recently, they already have quite a few people who tend to enjoy their work, and here are some thoughts Mike shared with us regarding that.
“Making a comic was partly about having a hobby but it was also, I imagined, a way to meet other people with similar interests and sense of humor. So far it has worked as I hoped and I've met lots of fun people through my comic.”
When it comes to giving advice to the upcoming artists who would like to try making comics themselves, here’s what Mike had to say in regards to that.
“Start making stuff and posting it. Thinking and planning are overrated. I wish I had just started much earlier.”
All in all, we hope you will enjoy Mike's comics, Pandas! So don't forget to comment and tell us which panel was your favorite as well as give Mike a follow on their Instagram where they post the updates.
