His first popular role was cool guy "Ted Logan" in Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (1989). Eventually, the wacky time-travel movie became such a cultural phenomenon that audiences would confuse Reeves' real-life persona with that of his doofy on-screen alter ego.
In 1991, he also immersed himself in music, playing bass guitar for the grunge band Dogstar. And even though the band is no longer together, music has remained a huge part of this famous person's life.
But people love Reeves off-screen and off-stage just as much. One of the most 'Keanu things' that he has done was rejecting $12 million to do Speed 2 since he was already committed to his role in an on-stage Shakespeare production in a small Canadian theater. And that's the kind of well-mannered, good person he is.
And that's not the only time when he proved he's a man of his word. While most actors would jump at the chance of getting to star in a movie opposite Robert De Niro and Al Pacino, Keanu actually turned it down. He was initially offered the role that eventually went to Val Kilmer in the movie Heat, instead opting to play Hamlet at a 789-seat theatre in Manitoba.
