Bored Panda got in touch with bird expert Drin and she was kind enough to share some of her thoughts and experiences with our little avian friends. Naturally, we wanted to hear why she decided to call herself a “bird-nerd.”
“Bird nerdiness must have a genetic component because I come from a long line of bird admirers. I spent a lot of time at my grandparents' houses growing up and I can still hear my Grandpa's voice excitedly calling out the name of every bird species that landed on the feeders that were hanging right outside the kitchen window. So close we could almost touch them.”
#6 No Offense But The Sweet Dog Is The Only Good Part About That Photo

“Even as a kid, I knew that to see my hard-skinned Grandpa get that excited about anything besides fishing, that birds must be special. My grandparents shared their love for birds with me, and now I share that same love with the internet in hopes I can inspire the next generation of birders!”
Given her experience with birds, we wanted to know what were some common misconceptions. “I think we've all heard the phrase " bird-brained" used to describe someone as foolish or unintelligent. I'm here to say that phrase couldn't be further from the truth! Birds are brilliant masters of their domain,” she shared with Bored Panda.
“If you just sit and watch a bird in a tree for 15 minutes straight, I can almost guarantee it will do something that will surprise you. Whether it's catching a male Northern Cardinal delicately feeding his mate to prove his impeccable fathering abilities, or a Blue Jay stealthily stealing a peanut that a chipmunk had just buried, birds are downright entertaining.”
Given the massive amount of dog and cat content online, we were curious to hear what are some of the draws of bird content. “Birds are smart, quirky, wild, and unpredictable, which is why I believe people naturally gravitate toward them; they are everything many of us dream we could be. Birds embody freedom.”
#18 Eyes Almost Popped Out 🤭😂 I Hope They Gave Him Two Apples After This Traumatic Experience

“During the height of the pandemic in 2020, people were stuck inside with little to do, other than stare longingly out our windows for months on end. For the first time in many of our lives, all we had was time, so we spent our days doing things that actually made us happy: watching birds. No matter what is going on in the world, whether it's a good day or a bad day, the birds have always been there and will remain. Birds are our reminder that everything will be okay.”
