Eyebrows on humans prevent sweat from getting to the eyes, but eyebrows on dogs? Unlike wolves and cats, dogs have developed thin eyebrow muscles that aren't easily perceived by the human eye. However, we can spot dogs with eyebrows when they try to tell us something or simply respond to humans. What we can easily notice on their faces are eye dots. These unique markings often look like natural eyebrows in both cats and dogs and help them create facial expressions. Still, all dogs do have eyebrow muscles beyond cute eye dots.
The cutest expression we all love is the puppy dog eyes of our furry best friends. That dates back to over 33,000 years ago when dogs were domesticated. During that process, dogs adapted their anatomy and behavior to ease communication with humans. According to National Geographic, the evolution of their eyebrow anatomy allows them to make irresistible “puppy dog eyes.” When dogs lock eyes with us, they instinctively raise their inner eyebrow muscles. While there’s no proof that a dog with raised eyebrows does this intentionally, this movement eases its connection with humans. It turns out our furry friends might understand us better than we think.
We at Bored Panda have compiled a list of hilarious pictures confirming what we already thought. Dogs look cute with natural eyebrow movements, but they also look pretty funny, surprised, sad dogs, or angry with drawn dog eyebrows from their humans with a sense of humor. See for yourself below, and don't forget to vote for the funniest!
