It’s no secret that cats sometimes, or rather most often, do things that make no sense to humans. To help decipher the internet-famous and genuinely odd feline behavior so often used for funny cat jokes and images, Bored Panda reached out to Molly DeVoss, a certified feline training and behavior specialist who runs Cat Behavior Solutions agency.
Molly said that each cat’s motivation to act as if they’re aiming to turn into funny cat jokes is a very individual thing. “Some cats do silly things to get our attention; we run and get our cameras, cooing and paying attention to them.” This attention that we shower our felines with is precisely what reinforces their seemingly odd behavior.

Meanwhile, “other cats are bored and are trying to find outlets for pent-up energy,” Molly said. Being both prey and predator animals, most cats’ instincts are still pretty powerful. As your house is their new jungle, you see the behavior that makes them jumpy, goofy, silly, yet absolutely adorable.
In fact, this precise feature that we don’t really know what to expect from them is what makes our felines the perfect material for cat funny jokes. “Whatever the motivation for the strange behaviors, it’s always good to pay attention to your cat and tell it how much you appreciate the laugh,” Molly concluded.
