Bored Panda reached out to Blanche once more to find out some new things and updates on her life and artistic journey.
Regarding her creative process, the artist explained to us, "I usually take something that happened in my life, oftentimes the funny ending is already in my head, I just have to sketch it. Other times the idea isn’t so clear, so I have to make sure the punchline is good and that people can understand the mini story. I don’t really decide if an idea is funny enough or not, I just draw what makes me laugh, if people laugh with me, that’s a plus!"
When discussing the backlash she faces for her LGBTQIA+ supportive content, Blanche stated, "It’s not easy to have so many bad responses on a post, it’s sad to see as well. When it happens, I simply try to stay true to myself, I don’t wanna back down if people are mad about something that is part of me. I banned people that go too far or if they’re not appropriate. If people want to unfollow me because I’m part of the LGBTQIA+ community, it’s okay, maybe I don’t want them in my community either."
The comic artist also shared her thoughts on the evolving dynamics of her art with the internet and her audience: "To be honest, my community isn’t really growing right now, the algorithm isn’t always on my side. It can get pretty frustrating sometimes to put so much time and energy and not see the expected results. But it doesn’t discourage me, I’m ready to do bigger projects, I’m ready for a new start and that’s what I’m doing! I’m working on other stuff with other people, I can’t say more for now, but I’m really excited about it! My comics won’t stop, but I will slow down the pace."
The artist was also reflection on her engagement with fans and the impact of publishing her book, she remarked, "I’ve been going to events since 2017, but I started to do more since last year. I love the connection, most people that see me don’t know my work, but from time to time, there’s this one person that knows my comics and I love seeing them and talking with them. Those few encounters are really special to me."
On her hinted 'bigger project,' Blanche made sure to offer a glimpse to Bored Panda, "I’ll try to say as much as I can, this project is with a scriptwriter. We want to adapt one of his movie script into a full comic book. I can say there’s hockey, there’s monsters, there’s some romance and quite a lot of comedy! Our humor and chemistry fits very well together so the project will be really fun to create."
