Fostering For A Better Tomorrow

“Saving one dog will not change the world, but surely for that one dog, the world will change forever.”

My husband and I have decided to open our home up to fostering dogs to provide a loving home while the rescue we work with finds them their furever homes. We are working with a local dog rescue called Sophie’s Circle. Our first foster pup is far from a puppy, in fact, he’s a ten year-old Siberian Husky. He’s sweet as can be and just wants to be by our side. He has beautiful eyes, one blue and one brown, that seem to pierce into your soul. He goes by the name of Axle now.

His Story

Axle(formerly Shasta, like the soda) was bought from a purebred breeder as an eight week old puppy and lived his entire life with his previous family. Sadly, they just lost their home. We’re not sure what happened, but they were left with no choice but to move in with family. The family they are temporarily staying with wouldn’t allow them to bring their dog, so they reached out for help. The owners tried contacting local shelters to surrender him to them, but they were all full and had no room for a senior dog. They really didn’t want to have to put him to sleep, just because they couldn’t find a new home for him. Luckily, someone recommended that they contact Sophie’s Circle and surrender him to them!

His Current Status

As of right now, he is not available for adoption, but should be soon! He is not neutered and is severely underweight. His hip bones and spine are prominent. His coat is also a little unkempt. And I’m sure he has some arthritis settling in.

This upcoming Friday he is scheduled to be neutered and possibly have some dental work done. He doesn’t appear to have any bad teeth; just mainly needs a teeth cleaning.

We are going to make sure that he gets the proper nutrition he needs while he is in our care and shower him with endless love, and of course treats!
