What if you’re a media designer and advertising manager and love puddling clay? Russian craftswoman Tatyana from Zelenograd, a town in Moscow oblast, knows how to find time on her ceramic bell passion and even make a business of it.
Seems like a bell is just a simple pattern, a base for Tatyana to build a whole author’s world of it. The conditional shape of a bell allows to transform itself into a real sculpture — a pear, toucan or whale — and you’ll never say it has a clapper inside. Multiple bell constructions might have been inspired by Tatyana’s study at an architectural institute; these are Dutch houses with stepped facades, lighthouses, even onion cupolas of Russian churches. That’s just a small part, not to mention bright geometric and floral ethnic motifs, references to routine glimpses and others.
Tatyana says, ‘Not long ago ceramics became my serious enthusiasm. I like modeling of faience or chamotte with my own hands, experiment with glazes and create items in ethnic style. I’m sure that one should sculpt only in high spirits and with good greetings!’
