I'm an illustrator who usually works with ink and paper, but I use my ipad pro to practice my drawing skills. During the COVID-19 lockdown, I've found myself feeling less motivated to carry on with illustrations and I wanted something a little more fun and light-hearted to concentrate on. My Mum and sister love doing puzzles and quizzes and we have been sharing them in our WhatsApp group, so I decided to create this illustration based on Bands and musicians, past and present to send to friends and family.
I hoped that others would share it far and wide as I wanted to give people something to concentrate on for a little while - in such difficult times, distraction can be a good thing!
I started out by writing down as many as I could think of, and then some ideas around what could be drawn to represent their names or their most famous songs. The illustration in total took me 10 hours and 7754 brush strokes of my apple pencil.
