I created this large-scale portrait using charcoal on paper. I documented my drawing process through time lapse using over 100 hours of condensed video footage.
"Figment" is part of a series of drawings that examine issues related to memory. The work explores the limitations of memory and aestheticizes the instability inherent in portraiture. The drawing allows the viewer to enter the subconscious space between remembering and forgetting by taking form as a realistic rendering of a fleeting moment and by mirroring the viewer’s innate desire for clarity.
