I've been playing/working with polymer clay (and similar materials) since I was a kid :) Mostly I was making little figurines. One day I thought these figurines might be earrings or a necklace. This is how it started to develop, to "evolve" in shapes of owls, dragons and other creatures. I started to make things that I myself wanted to have.
From 2010, I started taking this more seriously. I was learning about techniques and materials. I have invested in professional clay for jewelry and doll makers. In 2016, I opened my small business and I have been doing this since then. It's not easy to run such a tiny business but this is what I love and I would like to do it as long as possible
My relationship with fantasy and magic? Status: complicated.
It's a way to take a break from reality. Like fantasy books and movies. Bringing these fantasy pieces to our everyday life. Combining them with elements from nature is even more fun. I go to the forest and see magic in every leaf and rock. When you walk around and a feather lands on your head... isn't it magic? For me it is.
For me, my creations are not only pieces of jewelry, they're fantasy creatures you can carry with you everywhere you go.
Usually I don't do big research, I'm inspired spontaneously ;) I don't know how to explain it. Of course books, movies, tales, legends inspire me... but only to create something new and mine. Shapes just come to mind. I do research for particular elements, like plants, gemstones, colors, animals like lizards, snakes and birds to "close" the idea. Then I sit down and start drawing until I'm satisfied with a design.
I don't have a favorite kind of dragon. I try not to divide them. I like all dragon-like creatures. A long time ago, I had a "dragon" at home myself ;) It was a green iguana and he (named Basil) was amazing. Maybe that's how it started.
My favorite part of a process is when an idea comes to my mind and the very beginning, working on a design, and when it's almost finished, adding the last touches. When it "comes to life."
My least favorite is just preparing material, conditioning clay, always can't wait to start giving it shape.
My plans for the future change too often, but I'm working on two new dragon designs and hopefully will be able to show them soon. I also started to make soft sculptures with mixed media. Little fantasy forest critters. I love them!
