While some siblings of famous people fade into the background, others shine bright together and bless us with a double dose of stardom.

Take Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, for example. They became household names before they could even talk. Born in 1986, the twins were cast in "Full House" at the teeny age of 6 months old. By 9 months of age, they were acting - sharing the role of Michelle Tanner, just as they'd once shared their mom's womb.

The sisters would take turns in front of camera. Something that apparently annoyed their co-star John Stamos. He admitted in 2023 that he'd once got the infants fired from the show.

“They were 11 months old, and god bless them. [The producers] kept switching: ‘This one’s not gonna cry.’ I couldn’t deal with it. And I said, ‘This is not gonna work.’ And so they got rid of them,” Stamos revealed on the Good Guys podcast.

Fortunately, that didn't last long...

“It was only a few days, and I said, ‘Bring the Olsens back! These kids are terrible,’” Stamos added.

The sisters stayed with "Full House" for 8 years, until the sitcom ended. But their acting careers were just beginning. They went on to star in several movies and raked in millions during their childhood. The twins surprised many people when they decided to quit their acting careers in the early 2010s and follow new paths.

The South China post reports that they even "declined to appear in Fuller House – the spin-off series of the sitcom that propelled them into the limelight – when it ran between 2016 and 2020."

Mary-Kate and Ashley had already started transitioning into the fashion industry in 2004, as teens. They launched a clothing line for girls ages 4 to 14 in collaboration with Walmart that year. It was launched under their joint-owned fashion and entertainment company, Dualstar, which they founded in 1993.

The sisters also enroled in New York University in 2004, but later dropped out. It would seem that they were in search of a quieter and more private life, after spending so many years in the limelight.

“We’ve been there, we’ve done that, we started out that way,” Mary-Kate Olsen told Vogue in 2019. “But this is the way we chose to move forward in our lives: to not be in the spotlight, to really have something that speaks for itself.”

The famous former actresses have gone on to launch a number of successful fashion brands, including "The Row," "Elizabeth & James" and "Olsenboye." They've handed the acting baton to their younger sister Elizabeth Olsen, who gained popularity as Marvel’s Wanda in the Avengers films.
