Drop whatever you're doing, we have a situation in here! A stay-at-home mother has posted a picture of the 'impossible to open' cupboard and she needs your tips to open it without destroying these precious porcelain plates.
'A cupboard that can never be opened,' - read the caption. Of course, you can never throw words like 'never' online because soon after posting, the army of kind-hearted internauts came pouring in (16,000 reactions and 456 comments) to help this lady with getting her plates to safety.
What would you do in this situation? Post your answers below!
Update: The photo was actually taken after an earthquake in the Tottori Prefecture on October 21st, in a hotel owned by the Kishida family.

Place a mattress close to the cupboard with no gap. If needed place lots of cushions on top. Open the cupboards. Ask your family to be ready and waiting to catch any of those falling dishes. if someone misses, they'll land safely on the cushions.

Get someone with large arms and hands, open the cupboard and watch the person dash left and right, trying to catch them all.
Why your there, make yourself useful by sitting down, glass of wine with a camera, ready to upload to you've been framed...

Pray - I hear that if you pray, your problems will be solved. Most likely, if you pray long enough, you will have a new problem and this one will somehow get forgotten.

find a very rich friend and have a drink at your house until wasted...ask your friend to get some bowls for you...he'll come back saying "i accidentally broke your porcelain collection, don't worry i'll replace them for you"

If it has a sliding door, slide open very carefully. The bowls wont drop till when u slide open more then half the bowl. As long as the gap is big enough to put your hands in, grab the outer most bowl and push it upwards against the glass and also push the rest inwards. When the bowls are safe, slide open the doors and rearrange your stuff.....

Get a cardboard box with bubble wrap, place it directly below the cupboard, open it slowly and let the plates fall into the bubble wrap. Some may break! It would be best to do this with someone else, then as you slowly open the cupboard, you can try to catch some of the plates!

Brake bottom glass, unless you can detach it whole
Insert fluffy pillow
Reach in with one arm holding the second plate, keeping preassure. Drop the plates one by one.
Good luck, no matter what something is going to break :)

Take the hinge off of the cupboard, while someone supports it, then slowly tilt it down, and ease the plates down, you will need three people but it will work:)

No need to break anything. Very carefully pull the cabnet away from the wall, and then remove the back. After you finish removing the dishes you can put the cabnet back together.

Drywall over the cupboard and forget it. Let someone 100 years from now deal with it when they restore the house. Then the dishes will be worth 10 times the the amount. Hahaha...evil laugh.

Open the door to the left. Drill a hole in the wood. Drill the hole lower then the plates and in a up words angle then use a stick to push them back up

If you live someplace cold as people think Canada is, turn off you heat and open the doors to your house. Once everything is completely frozen in a block of carbon dioxide, use your chain saw to cut things free.

If it is a slide door slide it slowly to edge of bowl stack and push to hold plates back while another person fully opens the cupboard and a third person supports other dishes

Get one of those long grab sticks and slowly work it in and grab the dish.
