With over 138 posts on Instagram already, the Spanish artist has racked up an applaudable number of followers, over 106k, to be exact. The author describes herself as: “An artist who has a big love for Walt Disney and Bill Watterson and has been drawing since childhood (and hasn’t stopped since).” We think it’s a pretty convincing statement that says a lot about one’s character. With that said, we can also definitely see some small references to Disney in Esther’s comics, sometimes even art style-wise.
Esther’s comics mostly describe real-life situations. Some occur while she’s with her boyfriend, some in public, some with pets, and some just while she’s hanging out in the house. With all of that being said, it sure seems like the artist has the noble mission to cheer people up and make them smile using her talent and creativity. Because who doesn't love some quirky and funny comics at the end of the day?
The artist grew up in Spain, but when she turned 18, she left to study arts in the United Kingdom, where she attended a university. When she finished her studies several years later, she took her backpack and went to Thailand for quite a few months, trying to figure out what she wanted to do in life while trying to find inspiration. While staying in Thailand she was staying in a motel, where one of the staff members started calling her "Miss Thai," the nickname stuck and was part of the reason why Esther named her Instagram account "miss.pad_thai."
Esther’s comics are definetly one of a kind. Having both English and Spanish audiences combined they are the type to look at when one has had a bad day, or just feels like they need a heavy and unfiltered mood booster. Whatever the reason, if you are having the time of your life looking at Esther’s comics, we believe it might be one of the reasons we listed above. Therefore, we’d like to hear your opinion as well! Pandas, tell us, which comic is your favorite one?
