My name is Ayala, Im a Canadian-Israeli, world traveler, visual artist. My art explore representations of the female body, particularly through the aesthetics of the Palaeolithic and Neolithic eras. I perceive the cultural and artistic practices of those periods as invaluable resources, for effecting change with respect to the status of femininity and womanhood today. Along with, utilising this cultural practices to demonstrate the current significance for understanding the subjects of abuse, trauma, and healing. both on a personal level as well as within the broader sociopolitical landscape.
I was born almost 30 years ago in a little town on the shores of Israel’s Mediterranean. After Travelling around the continents I had based myself for a decade in Toronto, Canada, where I studied fine-art.
Art and specifically environmental art had been my passion since my childhood. Being raised in such a history and conflict-rich environment had important influence on my work.
My mode of creating along with my attitude toward the artistic process itself is one of versatility. I find inspiration in my immediate environment, seeking ways to work by making use of the material it provides me with, while remaining open to how my surroundings impress me and how I can respond appropriately. My art is therefore spontaneous but normative: it is generated freely but always in accordance with the respect for the conditions and the obligations that my surroundings, whatever they are, call for.
