The complete set is comprised of three unique vases: Section A, Section B, and Section C. Each Vase is hand made in Edgewood Made’s studio in Philadelphia. The Vases are
made from colored porcelain that is available in 5 unique colors. Each Vase has a glazed interior and features a matte clay exterior.
The Vase Section series is inspired by the vascular systems that are hidden all around us, such as those found in trees, plumbing systems and even our own blood vessels.
Vascular systems are made of tubes and forms of different shape and size that all blend together to form a complete system. The Vase Sections draw inspiration from these intersections of differently shaped and sized objects. Each vase acts as a manifold that is the combination of differently shaped parts that are blended and brought together.
All of the individual Vase Sections contain common shapes that allow the vases when placed in the right orientation to grow from one vase to the next. They can be paired with
any other quantity of Vase Sections to display together, in a myriad of arrangements, to create unique sculptural tablescapes.
The Vase Sections can be placed together, or can work just as well on their own. They have the stance and feeling of a large mass at scale that can only be compared to
buildings or large scale architecture. When the individual vases are positioned together they form little cities whose buildings play off of one another’s forms.
As a vase, each one of the Vase Section’s forms clashes in a wonderful way with whatever is placed within. Finding the perfect balance between the controlled organic
brutal sculptural form of the Vase and the uncontrolled organic nature placed in it,
creates an incredible juxtaposition. Each Vase Section has the ability to stand on its own as a sculptural object, while remaining minimal, subtle and organic.
