Dunav Ultra ( Dunav means Danube in Bulgarian) is the longest bicycle route in Bulgaria - total 732 km lenght. It connects the most NorthWestern with the most NorthEastern populated villages in the country – Kudelin and Durankulak.
Almost 500 kilometers of our route goes along the Danube River as part of its concept – to travel with a bicycle near the Northern border of Bulgaria in a best (and safe) possible way.
If you are cycle traveller – you maybe already know – The Danube river is the most popular destination to travel with a bicycle in Europe.
Dunav Ultra is such a great project for me. The history of this project refers back in 2014 as part of my personal transformation. In 2010, I found myself overweight, an avid smoker, and an even individual with an some alcohol addiction.
Since I discovered cycling, my passion to sports and its healthy lifestyle transformed me during next several years.
Founding Dunav Ultra cycle route became a part from my personal transformation goals. It was an important moment of my personal journey, when I managed to complete the Dunav Ultra cycling route in less than 48 hours on a bicycle.
Since 2014 I completed the route 3 years in a row. Once with road bicycle (53 hrs), once with single speed bicycle (45 hrs) and once as a duathlon (47 hrs) – 40 km of running and 642 km of cycling.
In 2017 the Dunav Ultra Cycle Route even won the official Annual tourism awards of Bulgaria as "Innovation of the year".
Since than we are working to develop the route as a tourist destination and to popularize the Danube region of Bulgaria as such a great attraction for bicycle travelers all over the world.
