After a few weeks, the CEO tours the new offices. He noticed that many desks had partially empty bottles and cans, and decided that everyone was abusing the “free drinks” policy.
So out went a company-wide memo saying“free soda and water” is now “$0.25 soda and water” in order to curtail “rampant abuse” everyone ended up having to keep a roll of quarters at their desk because the dollar bill slot never worked. Some employees began keeping empty bottles and cans at their desks in protest. There was one desk that had a pyramid of water bottles that went all the way up to the ceiling.
