DJ Stenson is a contemporary painter whose work is defined by its spontaneous energy and rich textures. Her creative process flows intuitively, embracing the unpredictability of each moment. Working primarily with acrylics, Stenson’s paintings are vibrant and layered, each one an exploration of how color and form can evoke mood and stir the senses.
Stenson’s process is grounded in the idea of intuitive creation. The act of painting is not a rigid or formulaic procedure but a fluid, ever-changing journey. She works using a combination of palette knives, brushes, and various tools, she applies acrylic paint in bold, gestural strokes, often building up thick layers of impasto texture. These impassioned marks speak to a sense of immediacy, capturing the memory.
A limited color palette plays a significant role in Stenson’s artwork. She doesn’t just use color for aesthetic appeal; it is a powerful tool for conveying emotion and setting a mood. Whether it’s the deep, somber hues of twilight or the earthy tones of nature, color is symbolic, carefully chosen to elicit a specific response. The result is work that feels grounded and alive, offering a sincere emotional experience.
DJ Stenson’s work is a tribute to the power of the creative process and the sensitive connections that art can foster. Her intuitive approach, bold use of color, and respect for nature all converge to create compositions that are more than just images on a canvas; they are visceral experiences that speak directly to the heart.
