Some things are better left unsaid, and some secrets really should stay buried. Still, people confess all kinds of things, sometimes behind the comfort of an anonymous screen and other times in unnerving face-to-face conversations. Either way, some of these admissions are hard to forget.
We've gathered some truly jaw-dropping confessions, and a few might leave you questioning whether you really needed to know all that. Pandas, brace yourselves! These revelations are so unsettling, you might wish you could turn back time and unread them!

I used to help out at a nursing home. This old Russian lady would relate the same tale over and over. Her husband drank and hit her. It was sad for sure.
But one day she leaned over and whispered "he was so drunk, so I pushed him down stairs. He lost his life."

There was this chef i worked with who seemed like a pretty normal dude. He was an immigrant from Haiti
One day he brings up that he had to put his sick dog down when he was a kid. He said he did it himself since Haitians didn't have extensive access to medical care for people, much less animals.
He said he tied a rock to its neck and dropped it in the ocean.
That made it really hard to talk to him.

I got introduced to a guy in a pub by a friend. he was quite drunk and was telling me this tale of woe about how his wife had left him. I felt sorry for the guy so chatted to him for a while...until he finally told me that the reason his wife had left and taken their child was because he was beating her, on a regular basis. apparently his mother lived with them, and she used to push him into exploding at his wife and beating her.
as soon as he made that confession I walked away from him.

Not so much that I heard but I saw.
I had this lady friend, we used to hang out a lot, you know, the usual, drinks, smokes, music, etc. One night, after having gone out together, I went home with her to spend the night. Once we were there, she changed her clothes to something more comfortable took a hypodermic needle out of a drawer went to the bathroom sink and proceeded to stick into her arm and just started to drain blood all over the sink.
I didn't know what was going on so I just promptly ask what was she doing. She calmly replied "Nothing, I just enjoy watching my blood flow and paint the sink red"
Turned out she actually did it fairly regularly. That was one of the more bizarre nights of my life and she one of the more influentiel people to have come into my life.
Still, so creepy.

I worked at Tim Hortons when I was 15 and one day on a particularly nice fall afternoon, an elderly customer told me unprompted that on nice days like this, she thinks about hanging herself in the woods. I didn't really know what to do with that so I offered her a free donut.

told me that she hated one of my friends so she slept with my friend's boyfriend to pass her herpes to her. She thought it was a funny story to tell me in a bathroom at a party because we had hit it off and she didn't realize we were friends. I no longer felt like we were hitting it off.

I overheard a woman loudly speakin on her cell phone as I was walking my dog. The snippet I heard was
"She's taking the child support her baby-daddy is givine her and giving it to her boyfriend so he could pay child support to his ex-girlfriend"
ie; some guy is sending money to a woman so that HIS child can have food and clothes, but instead of using it to support the baby, she's giving it to her new boyfriend so that he can support HIS baby with the first guy's money.

I was working at a nursing home and became close to this one lady on hospice. In her 80s, mostly with it during the day, but became slightly confused at night. One day I was setting up her before dinner meds and she starts talking to me about her life and regrets shes had. Just your standard dont take things for granted and take chances when you can type of talk.
Then she gets more serious and looks at me and says theres one thing i should make sure never to do. So im idly listening as I prep her meds and dinner and she hits me with "whatever you do, do not take anybody's life".
So im fully paying attention now. She starts talking about how its haunted her her entire life, about how she still gets nightmares about someone finding out, the anxiety and fear of getting caught even years later. How it wasn't worth it even though her brother deserved it. She says all of this and then looks at me and makes me promise not to take anyone's life, no matter what happens. We never talked about it again and based on our future interactions, I dont think she even remembered telling me.

I moved to London in the early 90s and was staying in a hostel. There was a young Russian guy there, which was quite a novelty back then as meeting Russians in the West wasn't common. We chatted a few times and sometimes went for a couple of beers, and I jokingly called him an "apparatchik" (a party member well placed in the society). One day he asked me if I could help him find some contact in the jewelry business. I didn't know anybody but could maybe help. The guy then showed me a small pouch which he emptied on the table, and it was a good handful of diamonds. I asked him "are they real, or fakes that you want to sell?" he told me they were real. When I asked him where he got that he smiled, put a finger on his mouth to gesture "secret" and just told me "Russian apparatchik". People came and went in a hostel, but some days later I came and the guy was gone, I have never seen him again.

A friend was having an affair with his wife's best friend while opening/starting a business with her husband. As you can imagine, neither marriage nor the business survived.
I hated that I knew for as long as I did, and I didn't know if I should bring it up or tell anyone. I lost sleep, had bad anxiety over it, and so much indecision. Friends were in both camps - tell her immediately! Stay out of it!
In the end the wife caught them because they were stupid.

Someone once confessed that as a young teen he and his friends used to drive around the neighborhood shooting cats with a crossbow. I could never look at him the same again and obviously distanced myself.

ex best friend took me on a long car ride one day and confessed how she’d been cheating on her husband (and mine and my husband’s very close friend) for most of their 8 years of marriage. But wait it gets worse. She had refused to have intimacy with her own husband the whole marriage, and justified sleeping with these other men to “see if she could enjoy it!” and “she did ” she told me as if i should be happy for her. But wait it gets worse. Every single one of the men were someone her husband considered a friend and she even coerced her husband into loaning one of the men money (her husband was very wealthy), so that man could start his own business. But wait it gets worse. She also had told her husband their whole marriage that she doesn’t want kids, even though she told him she did before they married and she knew he really wanted kids, so imagine my surprise when she told me she met a security guard on a cruise ship (that she was on with her husband) that she had intimacy with him and how she realized she could possibly be pregnant.. And when she wasn’t, she was disappointed, and it made her realize she really does want kids, just not with her husband.
And that’s all just the tip of the iceberg.

A guy friend told me he was sneaking into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment and going through her computer and her bedroom garbage can to get clues about her dating life.
He had thought she was the one for him, because they both had a history of cheating on partners and somehow thought things would be different if they dated someone who was also a cheater.
Then she cheated on him and left him for another guy.

A post I once read was from a man who admitted that he was glad his son lost his life. He had an 8-year old son who he took good care of (in his own words) and made sure he had everything he needed. But he was unable to actually love him or grow attachment to him. When the son lost his life in a car accident, he felt happy he was rid of the obligations. He and his wife divorced and now he spends his time at a private lake house, inviting over friends to hangout and women for one night stands.
OP admitted it was messed up and that people like him should not be parents. But I still really hope the kid never noticed.
There is also an infamous one about a woman who complained that her small son was clingy, and that she was annoyed that he insisted on spending time with her and that he always talked to her. At the very end she revealed that the boy’s father was a jerk and had recently gone and that the kid recently stopped going to therapy. Geez, I wonder why he so desperate for attention…

Some old lady on a wheel chair who would beg for a ride to another location. Once she was in the vehicle of the person helping her. She would scream, demand for things, and defecate/urinate in their car. Apparently, this old lady has a husband and son running some sort of messed up operation. Cops don't do anything about it.
