The artist gave a wonderful exclusive interview to Bored Panda.
"They’re mostly inspired by something I saw on TV/in a movie or on the internet, sometimes they’re inspired by things that happened to me personally and sometimes they're just random ideas that I want to create."
"When I come up with an idea for a FairyFAIL I mostly already have the image I want to create in my head and it's usually for specific characters, so I go and search for frames from that particular movie that would fit best for my creation and I start compositing them in Photoshop accordingly. A lot of my FairyFAILS are combined with some drawing on Procreate as well, since the characters require some additions and alterations (such as facial expressions/hair/etc.)"
"My most favorite part is seeing my FairyFAILs “come to life” as I imagined them in my head, and a lot of the time I just find myself laughing while creating them - which pretty much serves the entire purpose, I guess, cuz it means I genuinely enjoy making them, haha. My least favorite part is searching for frames from movies (that alone can take A LOT OF TIME) and not finding anything that fits my idea, or when a FairyFAIL doesn’t end up like the image I had in my mind for it... that’s when it gets most frustrating to me as an artist, not just with my FairyFAILS, but with every artwork I create."
"I actually already have another page of artworks that are quite melancholic and whimsical (@omerika), so I wanted to give my lighter humoristic side more room.
I guess because we all know and love Disney movies and their characters portray this perfect, magical and unrealistic image, then I love to take them to the opposite “extreme” and make them more realistic and relatable. I think it makes my creations so much more funny and interesting that way. But I actually don’t restrict my FairyFAILS solely to Disney and cartoons, I don’t rule out the possibility of expanding to other concepts. :] We’ll see where this goes."
"My favorite Disney movie when I was a little girl was The Little Mermaid, but as I got older, ever since Tangled came out - it immediately became my all-time favorite, even when I wasn’t so little anymore, haha.
As for characters, there are a few, but I would have to pick all of my Tangled ones - Flynn Rider, Maximus and Rapunzel. Pocahontas was a favorite as well."
