The Independent Photographer, an international network of photographers and photography enthusiasts, has just announced the winners of its Street Photography Competition.
On this occasion, prestigious photographers Alex Webb & Rebecca Norris Webb were judges of the competition. Over nearly three decades, the acclaimed photography duo has worked together to create an extensive body of work displayed across countless publications. A full member of Magnum Photos since 1979, Alex Webb has published eleven books. Having received distinction from esteemed organizations and publications, Alex Webb and Rebecca Norris Webb have taught photography workshops for museums, universities, and arts organizations around the world.

The Buddha Stupa in Kathmandu, Nepal is one of the largest Stupas in the world. On a normal day, you can observe the devout Nepalese people walk all the way around, light a butter lamp and say a little prayer while kids, will always be kids and find an excuse to just play around.

The city was covered in snow. I had walked a lot, and I was far away from the city center. I could not feel my hands and feet. When I had stopped walking, I found myself in a “vanishing point”. In this part of the city, there was no sign of life except for two men who had gotten stuck in the snow with their car. The untrodden snow showed the loneliness and desperation that these men were in.
