Something Magical Happens When I Fuse Electronic Music And Art

Even though there’s much truth in that statement, it doesn’t consider our ability to create infinite, organic combinations that can strike our senses and our minds. My name is Roy Flores (aka Le’Roy). I’m Peruvian and I’m an artist. After resigning to a dead-end job that made me extremely unhappy, I spent the last two years experimenting with an artistic approach that I call 'chromatic outburst' to create portraits of the world’s top-ranked electronic dance music (EDM) DJs.

Everything reflects color, even if it’s not visible to the eye. Rather, color should be felt, much like the music within us. That’s what EDM does to me: it fills me with amazing sensations; it gives me an overwhelming sense of freedom; and it’s as if it guided the strokes in my paintings. Each producer has an inner world that gives a distinctive style to their creations, with meanings and nuances of their own. I attempt to identify that singularity and materialize it in large-format digital canvases.

That's why I founded the EDMartwork project: mixing EDM with my own artistic vision. EDMartwork has attracted considerable interest among the world’s most influential digital media since I published my first portraits (Swedish House Mafia and Deadmau5) at the beginning of 2014. As a result, I was selected as an official artist for Road to Ultra Peru 2015, where I had the chance to showcase a sample of this first collection of 22 portraits to an audience of thousands and received the support of stars like Dash Berlin, Fedde Le Grand, and Paul Van Dyk.

Currently, I receive requests from people in different parts of the world looking for a psychedelic representation that may reflect how they identify themselves. All along I continue working on this first expo show (T.R.O.C.), which I see as a platform for artistic and spiritual development. This year I’m exploring ways to make my big break in festivals outside Peru. My goal is to make a fresh and innovative artistic contribution to EDM culture, a music universe full of powerful energy that is light and, therefore, color.
