Renowned fine art travel photographer David Lazar, an Australian, has traveled extensively in Myanmar over the last six years. It has become his favorite place to photograph, but not only for the exquisite quality of its light. In fact, it's the warm and welcoming people of this once isolated country who make his photography experiences so enriching. Whether it's being invited into homes or monasteries, David feels honored to spend time learning about the people he photographs, often returning to give them prints for their kindness.
Part of the essential fabric of everyday life in Myanmar, are its red-robed Buddhist monks. Virtually every Burmese boy becomes a novice monk and studies in a monastery at least once during his youth. It is this theme that stands out most colorfully in Lazar's new book, Myanmar - A Luminous Journey.
