There once was a Valerie who lived an ordinary life and made dolls and pictures that no one would ever see. One day when she was feeling quite lost, a voice from her deepest depth spoke to her: "Go be a silversmith, Valerie!" "But how? What? Why?" Valerie asked. "NOW!" boomed the voice, and she no longer argued.
Off she went on her mysterious quest and on her way she found a piece of jewelers'wax that begged to be carved. And carve it she did, and from underneath her knive serpents slithered, tentacles reached out and bones rattled.
