Susie sexplained that Cat & Cat Comics was started as a hobby, something she drew and posted online for fun outside of her day job. "The responses to my comics motivated me to continue sharing my random comic ideas, and over time, it grew into a community, which I'm very grateful for."
"I enjoy animation, comics, and story-telling in general, so this is my way of creating a world that will hopefully bring in new characters as time goes on and make people smile," Susie shared with Bored Panda.
As Susie got older, she got into reading Calvin & Hobbes and Garfield comics, which got her into making her own comics. Her style changed from regular comic strips to more like graphic novels because of all the cool graphic novels the artist discovered over time. "Some of the major influences have been works like The Prince and the Dressmaker, by Jen Wang, which so effortlessly create a whole new world through images and storytelling. As I've become a graphic novel author-illustrator myself, I now incorporate overarching storylines into my comics online as well."
"What motivates me as an artist is an inner desire to create, as cheesy as that may sound. I have so many ideas inside of me: characters who want to speak and share their stories, universes, and different timelines that are itching to be drawn. Even within the Cat & Cat universe, I hope to weave together positive, helpful messages that inspire people to be kinder and more loving to both themselves and each other. As I continue to tell these wholesome, silly stories about Squash, Ginny, Mickey, Minnie, Nana, and more, I want people to feel joy when they think about my 'Cativerse.'"
