Corpus Christi (the Body of Christ), is a celebration of the reality of the Body and blood of Jesus Christ Son of God in the Eucharist. It emphasizes the joy of the institution of the Eucharist.
In Catalonia that's part of the tradition making different styles of carpets on the street made of flowers or just dyed sawdust which lately will be step by the procession.
I'm member of a "Giants" team which is invited to follow the procession in a small town not far from Barcelona called "Caldes de Montbui" with our couple of "Saint George's Giants".
Furthermore once the procession is finished there's time to see how other traditions like the Stick Dancers or the Devils are performed in the main square of the town.

The altar boys await the Priest leaving the church to start the procession

The procession makes its way along the carpets

Originality is an important part of the carpets design as there is a contest

The Giants of Saint George are only shown in public in very special moments

The Giants follow the Priest in a symbol of respect

The Priest carries the Body of Christ back to the church after the procession

Carrying out the giants is a very tiring work thus some rest is necessary from time to time

The first notice of Stick Dancers (Ball de Bastons) is around year 1550.

That's quite impressive watching how they perform not hitting their hands

And when the day comes to end that's the time for the devils (Diables) to spread their joy of fire.
