My son is 5 and autistic and we generally don't have him wear a mask because of the sensory issues (he seems to get upset having it on his face) and also he doesn't understand the need for one, we aren't able to communicate to him why he should wear one and not play with it or rip it off. That being said, he doesn't come to the store with me or my husband when we do groceries, he doesn't see anyone except his speech pathologist and PSW (who both wear full PPE) and he is already at a lower risk of contracting it because he's so young. Hopefully a vaccine is approved for his age group soon.
