Remember, if it bites you and you die, its venomous. If you bite it and you die, its poisonous. If it bites itself and you die, its voodoo. If you both bite each other and neither of you die, its kinky.
That ceiling is bowed and is going to come down sooner rather than later, hopefully not on someone's head. The way to get landlords to listen to you about repairs is to frame it so that they'll benefit from it. For example, my water pipes freeze every winter and if I was to ju tell my landlord that, he'll take his time or completely forget. So instead I tell him that the frozen pipes could burst... water everywhere... big mess... costing lots of money for plumbers, contractors, and other major repairs, plus someone could get hurt. Compare that to having a plumber come out for a couple of hours to thaw the pipes out and install something to keep then from freezing anymore. That's a much cheaper option. In this case, let them know that if that ceiling comes down and kills someone after he was informed about its condition and did nothing to address it... his chances wouldn't be too good in court. That and the possible media attention could be the motivation he needs to take care of this.
