I recall once hearing a cabin announcement asking everyone to not eat any peanuts on the flight. Once. I recall lots of times being served peanuts with my drink, but on that flight they specifically apologised that they could not do so. So I assume that if there were someone with that level of allergy they would have informed the airline so the staff could act accordingly. In this case there is no reason whatsoever for her to avoid peanuts "just in case" and the nosey passenger has no right to ask it of her.
