I'm a Mumbai based fashion stylist who works on random ad campaigns and also organises events. I have a creative writing background and a lifestyle blog that I don't update much anymore. My passion is travel and photography and I try my best to document my travels. I'm very awkward in front of a camera but that won't stop me from striking a pose. instagram.com/head2heels

So when you enter the basilica, most people there are tourists and don't have prayer on their mind. However, towards each wall is a mini altar set up with all the fixings for a private mass for up to 10-15 people. There might be around 20 (or even more) in the main level of the basilica and then a few more underground. You have to get or hire your own priest to have private mass and of course get permission and a time slot. I'm catholic so we did this when we visited back in 2018. Someone singing loudly like this would be disrupting at least 5 different private masses who would all be within ear shot. Churches in general are always quiet zones because someone or the other is always there to pray.

Pretty sure I saw this post on Indian twitter. In "Indian terms" no past basically is no previous relationships, aka no ex-boyfriends or s*x life of any kind.

Definitely looks like urban hell, but the slums of Dharavi generate around close to 900 million to a 1 billion dollars per year in revenue. Houses around 1 million people and is home to over 20,000 small factories and small businesses that deal in textiles, leather and other handmade work. Some of the clothes seen on red carpets and in runway shows in Paris and Milan have their embroideries designed and sampled right here.

To be fair, not all of us Indians believe in the caste system. It's a very specific group of people within a certain religious group. I have friends whose ancestors definitely have had these beliefs and I'm not even Hindu, and we get along in the normal manner possible. As an example, my aunt married into a family that was strictly vegetarian and her MIL would give us separate utensils and cutlery because she didn't want our "meat cooties" or whatever. Meanwhile, her adult son (my uncle) would come over and eat meat at our place without his parent's knowledge. We all respected the rules of their home though.

The average middle class family in India can afford chicken for almost everyday. Lamb and goat is slightly expensive though. But yes, butter chicken and chicken tikka are more of "outside" dishes. Restaurant variants generally taste better than home ones. At home, we usually make chicken curries with daal and rice.

That's true. We call the Chinese food we get in India - Indian Chinese because its unlike authentic Chinese food. Same with Italian. Indian Italian has butter chicken and chicken tikka pizzas which are great in their own ways.

Most of these are popular almost mainstream movies though. Only one that confused me was Lost in Space because I only know that as a TV show and had no idea there was a movie as well.
Same but for the hair on my upper lip.

America bases its view of the world on the propaganda fed us by the media and Hollywood, so turnabout is fair play.

Lakh = a hundred thousand. It's a term used in India. Also we have another term crore that is 10 million.

I was a C section baby and while they were reaching inside for me/getting me out - unclear on exact details, they managed to cut me up near my eyebrow. I was born bleeding and was taken in for stitches immediately. We're brown, in a Middle Eastern country and the hospital was an American one. My parents at that time didn't know they could sue, and my mom never would have anyway. Their entire hospital fee was either comped or free. I again don't remember. But I have the scar to show.

Sorry for your loss. I had to think for at least 20 seconds to figure out what OKC stood for. And I only know of this sad event from pop culture and its added to the long list of events that have happened all over the world. Plus, it's so weird to rank these situations. Feels almost inhumane to upvote a bombing where so many died so it ranks higher?

I'm not trying to be an a**e, but do you remember watching the Bradford Fire Disaster unfold on television? Probably not, because it was in the UK, the North of England to be precise. Some things are a big memory to you because you were local. Same for me. But that's a small part of a huge world.

Because not everyone on BP is US american. I'm sorry you lost your friend, but I have no idea what this is about.
