Depends where you are in the World as to whether your 'surname' (this is a Western construct, so doesn't make any sense in a country / society where you have no 'surname' - for example, many, many people in Europe / America and the Middle East have surnames that started as place or trade names (Trade names ; Smith, Coster, Cook, Proctor, Priest etc with Place names usually prefixed with 'of' - eg. Sam Smith of Winchester or suchlike would, in time be shortened to Sam Smith - don't forget the population in the times when people were adopting 'surnames' very, very rarely travelled outside their own communities as well as being a much smaller population overall. BTW Riddhi, your name, when slightly mispronounced in Amharic is 'interesting' .......... Never judge or take the piss.
