My mother was the one who did the first two to me for as far back as my first memory at 2. I remember cowering as she screamed at me that she hated me. That I ruined her life when I was born and that she ought to have aborted me when she found out she was pregnant. I remember her whipping me with the buckle end of a belt at least once a day.
