It's a parody of the movie "The Jazz Singer" which is, supposedly the story of Al Jolson. Basically, Krusty was born to an ultra-Orthodox Jewish family and was expected to be a Rabbi, but wanted to be a clown instead. I think Airbnb should lower their fees so that we can charge less and the hosts that have those huge to-do lists need grow up and get some common sense. Read the reviews and see how others have liked their experience. Don't generalize the whole site based on some crazies. Most of the hosts are doing their best to provide a safe, clean space and want their guests to enjoy their stays. But, others are in it just for the money, aren't involved with the daily maintenance and if they get rejected by the public for their greediness, they will eventually have to close.

If I were to hire someone to do the cleaning and paid them $15/hour, it would be $75 for just one guest. My income would go completely to cleaning fees. I have a bad back and sometimes it's awful to keep this up. Hiring someone for long term stays makes sense, but most people come through for one or two nights. Covid continues to affect costs, too. I had a couple stay for a week over Thanksgiving. They went to a dinner and both were infected and got sick even though they were vaccinated. I didn't catch it but I closed the rooms for five days to prevent anyone else getting sick. The virus can live on some surfaces for 3 or 4 days. Then, there are the other costs of running a business. We had three months of 100 degree weather here. My a/c bill was $500/month. There is upkeep on the house, yard work, etc. It all adds up and is not easy. But, I have had wonderful guests and am enjoying this experience a great deal. They have all seemed happy here, too.
