That's a disgusting attitude. "You're homeless so you should be happy to deal with verbal and mental abuse if it means you MIGHT get a bed for a night"

It's s rare that I'll comment on something like this, but: Firstly, you can see the truth of what this woman says, in the fact they kicked her out, and the comments of similar experiences. Secondly, here are my experiences: Homeless, nowhere to live. Approached Salvation Army, had to speak to some faceless person via intercom, told they weren't going to help. Homeless, nowhere to live: Approached council, which decided I was in priority need, referred me to a different Salvation Army hostel. Very hateful (especially of the residents who were not straight), lied about stuff, then wouldn't agree to recording for evidence of what was actually said. A man asked them for food - not money, FOOD. They had loads of it. They wouldn't give him anything. They invaded privacy too. On top of this: They help the current UK government forced disabled people into inappropriate work. They censor any comments they dislike, e.g. on Facebook, and throw people out of groups for asking questions.

Yep, this doesn't surprise me at all. The few times I have gone there the staff was rude to downright abusive. I have had the same experiences at the DAV. Needless to say, I donate to local charity shops and to Goodwill, instead.
