I am an artist living in Albany, Oregon working in the medium of photography. I first learned photography while attending Oregon State University's JumpstART program, a pre-college of the arts for high school students. I utilize digital photography, film, and alternative process - shooting with darkroom paper, ortho litho film, and currently wet plate collodion with antique large format view cameras. I am a 2023 Critical Mass Finalist and my work has been selected for recognition by the Smithsonian Photography Awards and the Palm Springs Photo Festival. My work has also been featured with Der Spiegel, Bento, ZEITjUNG, Flavorwire, and Edge of Humanity Magazine. I have been exhibited at Blue Sky Gallery in Portland Oregon, PhotoPlace Gallery's online show, The Curated Fridge, and LoosenArt in Millepiani Gallery in Rome Italy.

None of the edges are burnt, I shoot with wet plate collodion, all period correct materials, shot just as photos were taken back in the 1850's. Im sorry if you dont like the modern locations, but these are shot at the actual locations, I can not pick up and remove parking lots or McDonalds signs. They are there now, standing in the same places that these people stepped and slept. You are free to go outside and take any photos you wish with your camera in any style you wish. You should focus your negative energy doing that.

Anyone could take a photo of a pretty little girl in a pretty dress standing in a pretty field of flowers, with a big smile on her face or laughing... I see it all the time on facebook... but then, that would just be a stereotypical photo of a little girl taken by a "Photographer". I'll keep that to public facebook groups for people searching for a kitsch photographer to take basic family photos for $50 a session.

People sometimes ask me "Why does Haley always look upset or unhappy in her photos." Some may think that she doesn't like taking them or that she is just upset all the time. Nope. Not the case. I don't always like the over exaggerated smile. Not in art. If it is a real genuine smile it may work. But back to Haley. She loves taking the photos. Half the time she asks me if we can take some, and then sometimes we are just taking some, and sometimes it is planned. In most cases she really knows the difference between a snapshot and a photograph, I don't even have to mention it. She just knows. We take funny selfies or goofy photos as much as any other kid.
