Different interpretations, it would be interesting to know what the artist had in mind.

The paintings are abstract and the interpretation is not going to be the same for everyone.
Notice the water is underneath the creature and its tentacles are holding (bearing) jugs of water.

It has nothing to do with basic math. Your happiness with a hypothetical increase on the menu won't stop a phone company from turning off a struggling workers phone bill. You should take a basic life class!
So, that excuses their lousy tip? You know what they say about "Two wrongs", right?

I used to work in the service industry here in the US. If we work at a classy, reputable restaurant, we don't want a "livable wage." If you are good at what you do, are personable, and smile even when you don't feel like it, you can make $100+ an hour on Friday and Saturday. A "livable wage" would be a pay cut.
