A plainclothes cop wants to track down some people with illegal substances and guns staying in the hotel. OP is the only manager on duty (the others won’t answer their phones) and doesn’t know how to say no to the cop. So they put him in a hotel uniform to try to track down the guys. The cop sees the perp (guy who booked the criminals’ room) in the lobby and asks OP to make something up to get the perp’s room number, The perp conveniently loses his wallet and gives OP the info to try to find it. The info is promptly handed over to the cop, who reveals he’s going to do a SWAT raid on the guy’s room. OP again doesn’t know how to say no. So the SWAT team comes (at 1am) and explodes the door, getting smoke everywhere and setting off fire alarms. On this night the hotel happened to be booked out for a little girl’s dance recital, and the explosion freaks that group out. It’s enough to permanently stop them from coming back, which makes the hotel sales team pissed at OP (I assume).
