Linda is a writer who tells stories with pictures. Her passions, in no particular order, include C / K-drama binging whilst eating spicy ramen, boba <3 , making Panda Cub Stories, learn-teaching Chinese, and writing about herself in third person. To her 爸爸’s chagrin, she did not go to medical school (or law school). Instead, she intends to bring great honor to her family through her art. The verdict on this latter statement, however, is still out.

I Painted 100 Chinese Characters In Watercolor So That They Are Easier To Learn
I Painted 100 Chinese Characters In Watercolor So That They Are Easier To Learn

Hi Madeleine! The the character in parenthesis are Simplified Chinese characters (for these paintings, I've painted them in Traditional Chinese). Simplified Chinese is mostly used in Mainland China and Singapore, and Traditional Chinese is used in Taiwan and Hong Kong. Hope this is helpful! (sorry for the late reply! I don't get boredPanda notifications frequently. You can always DM me on instagram if you have a specific language question! I'm @pandacubstories

I don't know pretty much anything about Chinese characters, so I was wondering why you had put another character in parenthesis in the title. Is it just another way of writing it?

Remembering The Victims Of The Atlanta Spa Attack: My Illustration Campaign
Remembering The Victims Of The Atlanta Spa Attack: My Illustration Campaign

Exoticizing and fetishizing asian women is nothing new - and it permeates our culture. It isn’t woke nonsense. Rather I’d like for us to question why this killer decided that these women were sources of “temptation”. He may not admit (or even consider) that he was being sexist or racist, but that’s the point of structural/ingrained bias. He didn’t see his victims as people. He saw them as a sinful source if temptation. He made assumptions based on their gender, and yes, based in their race (that as asian women and workers in asian spas, that they were seductresses/guilty of being a temptation and must therefore be eradicated). If we can’t take a hard look at the context that surrounds his actions, it’s hard to make change going forward.

Jerk Customer Is Being Rude To The Staff So The Boss Scares Her Off By 'Taking A Closer Look'
Jerk Customer Is Being Rude To The Staff So The Boss Scares Her Off By 'Taking A Closer Look'

Amen. I have "engaged" asshole customers like this in the past. I was behind some arrogant c**t in a Starbucks being a complete asshole to the lady at the register. I reached around the c**t to put a dollar in the tip jar. She stopped her tirade for a moment to process what happened and then started into the poor woman again. Again, I reached around her and put another dollar in the jar. The third time I did this she glared at me and asked what I was doing. I told her I was "tipping the young woman for putting with your s**t." I showed her I had about 10 more singles to go. She glared at me and I just stared at her without emotion. After about 15 awkward seconds she turned around and finished her business with the young lady at the register.
